Detailed Chemical Composition by EPA Method 8270 Modified, Parent and Alkylated PNAs, GC/MS

This test will provide information on the detailed chemical composition of middle distillates and petroleum residuum products. Examples of its use include differentiation of products such as diesel and coal tar, as well as between two or more batches of diesel manufactured from different crude oils or different petroleum manufacturing processes. In addition to the information typically gained from an EPA method 8270 analysis, the mass spectroscopy data can be used to generate selective ion scans. These scans provide “fingerprinting” GC traces for classes of compounds including the alkylcyclohexanes, alkanes, isoprenoids, bicyclanes, alkyl benzenes, dibenzothiophenes, terpanes and steranes. Information on the concentrations of the alkylated PNAs in addition to the PNA data typically generated by an 8270 analysis can also be generated using this analysis.
